Ever wondered what it is like to "Drive" up Brisbane International Airports Active main RU

Well that’s exactly what took place for four candidates undertaking the "Nationally Accredited" - Aerodrome Reporting Officer skillset training with Aerodrome Training Australia and Air Support Queensland.

Under the direction and on-board with Brisbane Airport Corporation Aerodrome Operation Officers, these lucky four candidates as part of their ARO training and once approved by Air Traffic Control (Brisbane Tower) undertook a high speed runway inspection which also encompassed the inspection of level 6 lighting which is reserved for IMC - restricted low level visibility aircraft arrival and departures on Brisbanes runway 01.

ARO candidates where exposed to all aspects of ARO duties including high-speed taxiway inspections, FOD inspections along taxiway Alpha and Bravo.

ARO candidates stated that they where amazed at the sheer size of the A380 and the new 777 when undertaking the operational inspection of the aerodrome with these aircraft mere meters from them.

The next Brisbane based ARO course will commence in November with places already being filled.
